A socio-political organisation, Enugu People’s Frontiers, has endorsed Engr. Dr. Chris N. Okonkwo as a credible candidate for the 2027 Enugu State governorship election, citing his extensive administrative experience and proven leadership record.

In a statement signed by the group’s Coordinator, Comrade Chinedu Ezeh, and Secretary, Jennifer Adaugo Onuh, the organisation stressed that Enugu State requires governance driven by measurable results, institutional understanding, and sustainable development rather than political rhetoric.

“The political discourse ahead of the 2027 elections must focus on leadership capacity, experience, and performance. The state can no longer afford experimental governance or leadership driven by political convenience,” the statement said.

The Frontiers highlighted Okonkwo’s background as a retired civil servant and former labour leader, noting that his experience in union leadership, public service, and organisational management equips him with deep institutional knowledge, workforce management skills, and expertise in policy implementation.

The group also commended his governance philosophy, emphasizing accountability, productivity, and effective negotiation, which it described as critical for steering Enugu State toward infrastructural development, economic growth, and institutional reforms.

Calling on residents, particularly youths and professionals, to engage in issue-based political discussions, the group said the 2027 elections present an opportunity for the people of Enugu to choose leaders who prioritise competence, preparedness, and sustainable development.

“The state requires leaders who understand systems, infrastructure development, economic productivity, and institutional reforms. Engr. Dr. Chris Okonkwo embodies these qualities,” the statement concluded.
