We start on a note of congratulations that God has made us witness the end of the first two months and now, we are in the third month.
Brethren, God deserves all the praise. Three, is significant in Christianity and that is why this month is regarded as a special month.
Christianity stands on a tripod of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Hence we talk about the Trinity.
New Living Translation of the Holy Bible in 1st Corinthians 15 vs. 3-4 states: “ Christ died for our sins, just as the Scripture said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said”.
This again gives three a special meaning in the life of a Christian.
Christ rose on the third day and he remains alive forever.
Glory be to God!
The year is gradually moving on but only God knows what lies in it for everyone of us.
This is the reason we must engage in fervent prayers at this time. While praying, many of us fail to give glory to God.
We fail to appreciate God enough for what he has done for us or done through us.
Most of the time we think that our achievements are because we are smart or thinking right. Often leaving the factor of God out of it.
The Bible gives us an example of a person that failed to give God his glory
Acts 12 vs. 21-23 ( KJV) : “ And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost”.
There is also the story of the rich man that failed to give God glory. He ascribed his achievements to his human efforts in one of the parables that Jesus told his disciples.
It is recorded in Luke 12 vs. 16-20 ( KJV): “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?”
Beloved, in both cases, the two men failed to give glory to God and in the end, they didn’t live to give greater testimonies.
This should tell us that failure to give God glory might deny us miracles that we have been awaiting.
Isaiah 42 vs. 8 states: “ I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images”.
One thing that God wants all, not a half of, is his glory.
God would not share his glory with any man.
We all need to be careful. That one hasn’t received his miracle yet, is not a reason to deny God glory. Neither is it right to ascribe one’s achievements to human efforts.
Brethren, the road ahead in a new year is full of many potholes . Potholes planted by enemies, planted by wicked relations or that which we planted by our own conduct.
These potholes ( to borrow the road user’s language) are avoidable. God can carry you above them and you would have a smooth ride.
This is the reason why we must use the first part of the year, to load our prayer bank with prayers and fasting.
It is important to ask the Holy Spirit to lead us in prayer. Otherwise, one may end up complaining and grumbling instead of making supplications to God.
God detests murmuring.
Numbers 14 vs, 2, 11 &12 : “ And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which have shewed among them?
I will smite them with pestilence, and disinherit them, and make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they”.
It took the intercessory prayers of Moses and Aaron for the Lord not to reject and wipe them out with pestilence.
May the Holy Spirit guide us in prayer at all times.
God is still answering prayers but we must give him glory at all times. For as it is written in the Bible, only the living can praise God. The dead cannot.
A friend who has been waiting on the Lord for 16 years, gave birth to a baby girl last week.
Brethren, everything went on smoothly while she carried the pregnancy but on the day of the delivery everything went wrong. It was so bad that she had thought she would not live to take care of the baby.
But, the Almighty God intervened for her and saved her and the baby.
It was so bad that the doctors told her that only one in three cases survive the condition she went through.
What if she hadn’t been praying?
Brethren, when we pray, it is like placing your money in a bank. At an hour of need when you are not in a position to pray, the merciful God will draw mercy for you from the prayer bank.
I mean the prayer that you thought weren’t answered will come up and God will show mercy.
The lady I referred to continuously told us that what saved her was the “ Mercy of God”.
May the Lord’s mercy speak over that situation you are passing through in Jesus name.
Brethren, the time spent praying is not a waste even if the answer seems not to come instantly.
While praying, we should learn to pray as if we are in a conversation with the Lord presenting our cases and pleading for mercy bearing in mind that God shows mercy to whomever he wants to.
Let’s end on a note of Congratulations to our father in the Lord, Daddy Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God ( Daddy. G.O.) as he turns 84 tomorrow.
Glory be to God!
