Team New Nigeria (TNN) has taken a significant step in its preparations for the 2027 general elections, receiving a comprehensive report from its 36-state coalition committee and fixing March 7, 2026, for a decisive ratification meeting in Abuja.

The report was formally submitted at a strategic conference held in Kano on Saturday, where the movement’s national leadership converged to deliberate on its political future and possible alliances ahead of the polls.

A 37-man committee chaired by Professor Dawud Okanlawon (SAN) presented the interim findings to the TNN Board of Trustees. The committee, which comprised representatives drawn from across the federation, outlined a framework for proposed alliances with major political parties and strategies for synchronizing the movement’s administrative structures from ward to local government and state levels.

The document marks what observers described as a pivotal shift in TNN’s political trajectory, particularly following the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s refusal to approve the group’s application for registration as an independent political party.

Speaking at the conference, Prof. Gambo said the Kano meeting represented a critical transition point for the movement.

“The Kano conference was a critical step in transitioning our movement into a full-fledged electoral contender,” he stated.

“The Abuja ratification will provide the final roadmap for our 2027 strategy, leveraging the strengths of our partners to foster a single, formidable voice for national progress.”

Beyond coalition talks, the leadership also focused on structural harmonization to consolidate TNN’s grassroots influence into what it described as a potent electoral force capable of competing effectively in the upcoming elections.

The March 7 Abuja summit is expected to produce a final decision on which established political party platform the movement will adopt for the 2027 presidential race and other contests nationwide.

“With a platform, TNN may not need any alliance to win the presidency next year,” one of the leaders said, expressing confidence in the movement’s nationwide reach.

The Abuja meeting is widely anticipated to define TNN’s political direction and formally position it within Nigeria’s evolving electoral landscape.
