The SQI College of ICT, Ogbomoso, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, formally admitted new students into its National Diploma (ND) programmes during its 7th Matriculation Ceremony, emphasizing innovation, digital competence, and global relevance.

The event, held at the college’s main campus, was attended by parents, members of the governing council, academic staff, principal officers, and distinguished guests, including the Founder and Rector.

According to the College, 223 candidates applied for the ND programmes, but only 80 were admitted based on merit and potential to excel in the evolving digital economy. Clad in academic gowns, the new students took the oath of allegiance, pledging to uphold the institution’s values of discipline, integrity, and excellence.

A highlight of the ceremony was the induction of seven outstanding students into the Rector’s List for exceptional academic performance. The Director of Academics commended their diligence and encouraged other students to maintain focus and commitment throughout their studies.

The event featured a lecture by Engr. Prof. Funmilayo Nihinlola Osuolale on “Integration of Digital Skills, AI Proficiency and Traditional Degree for Global Impact.” She highlighted the importance of combining emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence, with strong academic foundations, stressing that graduates who master both will remain competitive in the 21st-century workforce.

In his keynote address, Founder and President Adeyemi C. Aderinto urged students to embrace three guiding principles: Dream, Build, and Impact. “The world does not just pay for certificates; it pays for what you can build,” he said, noting that the college has produced over 70,000 innovators making global impact.

Rector Adegbenro Sunday Ajani reaffirmed the college’s commitment to high academic and ethical standards. He explained that the ND programmes comply with the National Board for Technical Education guidelines while meeting current industry demands. He added that the institution remains focused on bridging the gap between academia and industry through practical, skill-driven training and strategic partnerships.

As a pioneer in skill-oriented education, SQI College of ICT continues to prepare students for leadership in Africa’s technology sector. The 7th Matriculation Ceremony celebrated new beginnings and reinforced the college’s commitment to positioning Africa as a leading force in the global digital landscape.
