Leaders across the business, public, and private sectors have been urged to move beyond the pursuit of personal success and focus on building enduring institutions capable of driving national transformation.

The charge was given at SHIFT Lagos 2026, held at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, where chief executives, founders, senior executives, and emerging leaders gathered to deliberate on the future of leadership and enterprise development.

Addressing participants, leadership expert Sam Adeyemi emphasised the need for intentional leadership and long-term impact, saying, “Success is not the final goal. Significance is about who you are raising, what you are building, and the legacy you are creating.” He added, “Leadership is influence, and influence must be used responsibly.”

Themed “Making BIG SHIFTS,” the conference challenged participants to embrace leadership that “builds people, strengthens systems, and creates lasting impact.”

Throughout the day, attendees engaged in high-impact sessions, strategic conversations, and networking engagements aimed at equipping them with practical insights for leadership and business growth.

Among the speakers was John Olajide, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Axxess and Chairman of Cavista Holdings, who shared perspectives on global leadership, innovation, and economic development.
Nike Adeyemi also delivered practical leadership frameworks during both the general and VIP sessions, providing participants with actionable tools for effective organisational leadership.

The conference featured curated engagements, including a dedicated Founders’ Session and a private VIP leadership session designed to foster deeper dialogue and strategic alignment among senior leaders. Students also benefited from a scholarship initiative that provided access to leadership insights and exposure to transformative ideas.

Organisers said the event was supported by sponsors and partners committed to leadership development and enterprise growth, adding that plans are underway to expand its reach and impact in subsequent editions.
