The Progressives Think Tank, a political and policy advocacy group, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr Adebowale Adedokun, over Nigeria’s victory in an international arbitration dispute involving UK-based technology firm European Dynamics UK Ltd.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Christiana Titus, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Monday, the group said the outcome of the arbitration reflected the Federal Government’s resolve to protect Nigeria’s economic and legal interests.
According to the statement, the arbitration tribunal dismissed all claims against Nigeria, saving the country more than $6.2 million — approximately ₦9.3 billion — in potential liabilities.
The group commended President Tinubu for what it described as support for institutions tasked with safeguarding public resources, adding that the Federal Government’s handling of the matter demonstrated that Nigeria would not be compelled to make payments for services that allegedly fell short of contractual and technical standards.
It also praised Fagbemi for his defence of the country’s legal position in the dispute, stating that the outcome underscored the importance of ensuring that contractual obligations are enforced in line with agreed terms and value delivered.
The think tank further acknowledged the role of the BPP under Adedokun, noting that the agency maintained its position through the arbitration process and upheld due process in addressing the claims.
The group described the decision as a significant development for public procurement governance and the management of international contractual disputes involving Nigeria.
