Borno State Government under the leadership of Governor Babagana Zulum on Monday flagged off the construction of a befitting Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre and Administrative Block for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), North East Zonal Office situated along Maiduguri -Dikwa road.

The Zonal office when completed will serve states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

The JAMB Registrar/ Chief Executive, Professor Is-haq Oloyede who performed the laying foundation in the presence of Governor Zulum and other government functionaries in Maiduguri, appreciated Borno State Government for the gesture, which he said, when executed would be close to that in Kano state or one of the best CBT Centre in country.

Professor Oloyede noted that the project is a milestone because, is the first time that a Governor in this country would on his own determined to build a JAMB Centre and Administrative offices, as well as construct additional CBT Centre in each of the three Senatorial Districts in Borno.

He added that “the project will have over 500 set of computers, and that 500 students will write their examination at once, stressing that, over 2,000 students would be attended to everyday”.

The JAMB Registrar also said, “the In-Build registration units will equally provide an avenue for the Board to complete the entire registration and documentation of Borno applicants within two days time.

“Let me use this opportunity to commend Governor Babagana Zulum and his team for the good works which have touches all sectors, especially the education sector. I want to call on other Governors to emulate the gesture”. Professor Oloyede stated.

Earlier in his brief remarks, Governor Zulum emphasized the need to prioritize educational development in the state.

He said, the state government under his leadership approved the sum of N667 million for the construction of the Administrative Block, while over N300 million was earmarked for the CBT Centre in Maiduguri alone, even as he promised to provide need sets of computers which will cost the State Government over N200 million respectively.

According to the Governor, similar CBT centre would be provided in each of the three Senatorial Districts to ensure hitch free conduct of all examinations leading to admission for all Borno students that are willing to pursue Courses at their chose of tertiary institutions of learning across the country.
