Lagos, Nigeria – The Macallan, the world-renowned single-malt Scotch whisky, continues to champion craftsmanship, creativity, and sustainability through its partnership with Alexis Galleries for the “Recycling Matters II” exhibition.
Hosted at Alexis Galleries in Victoria Island, Lagos, the exhibition kicked off with a private viewing on February 7, 2026. It drew artists, collectors, cultural enthusiasts, media, and stakeholders for an inspiring celebration of art that reimagines waste, sustainability, and contemporary African expression.
Curated by Uche Obasi, “Recycling Matters II” showcases new works by four Nigerian artists from a recent residency: Konboye Ebipade Eugene, Seye Morakinyo, Aliya Diseotu Victor, and Ibrahim Afegbua. Rooted in upcycling, their interdisciplinary practices transform discarded materials such as rubber, scrap metal, fabric remnants, footwear, binding wires, and paper into sculptures, assemblages, and mixed-media pieces. These works probe Nigeria’s patterns of consumption, survival, and reinvention, serving as a powerful social commentary on waste, utility, and cultural renewal.
The partnership unites two forces devoted to excellence and inspired creation. Just as The Macallan crafts its exceptional whiskies through meticulous selection and refinement, Alexis Galleries elevates artists who blend innovative techniques with profound narratives.
Hammed Adebiyi, Senior Brand Manager for West and Central Africa, WACA, at Edrington, underscored the synergy: “Our collaboration with Alexis Galleries perfectly aligns with The Macallan’s commitment to creative communities and exceptional craftsmanship. “Recycling Matters II” embodies innovation, sustainability, and cultural pride—values core to our brand.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with The Macallan for the second time on “Recycling Matters II”,” said Patty Chidiac-Mastrogiannis, CEO of Alexis Galleries. “This exhibition urges viewers to see waste as a resource for creative renewal and to consider art’s role in building environmental awareness and responsible material culture in Nigeria.”
The exhibition runs through February 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Alexis Galleries, Victoria Island, Lagos. Founded in 1824, The Macallan remains celebrated worldwide for its extraordinary single-malt whiskies.
