The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Bayelsa Chapter, has donated laboratory equipment to St. Judes Girls Secondary School in Yenagoa to commemorate the 2026 International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

Led by its Chairman, Engr. Dr. Amalate Ann-Jonathan Obuebite, the association presented items including pH meters, weighing scales, measuring cylinders, viscometers, and other essential tools aimed at strengthening science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

Presenting the equipment, Dr. Obuebite reaffirmed APWEN’s commitment to promoting STEM education among girls, stressing that access to functional laboratory tools is critical to building interest and competence in science-related fields.

The principal of the school, Mrs. Josephine Imbiakpa, expressed gratitude to the association, noting that the donation would motivate students to pursue careers in STEM disciplines.

The event, held in line with the theme of this year’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science, aimed to inspire young girls to explore opportunities in STEM and help bridge the gender gap in these fields.
