The CEO of Higher Ground Realty Ltd has been recognised for his visionary work in Northeast Nigeria, receiving the African Trailblazers Excellent Merit Award on January 28, 2026, from the Unveiling African Parliament Writers Network in partnership with ECOWAS Parliamentary Initiatives.

The award highlights Joseph’s bold decision to invest in Maiduguri, Borno State, an area long avoided by investors due to insurgency. Through his leadership, Higher Ground Realty has developed modern, secure, and affordable residential estates in communities such as Zabarmari Chabal, demonstrating that urban revitalisation is possible even in high-risk environments.

Operating from Abuja while maintaining strong local presence, Joseph has bridged the gap between capital and community. The award committee commended his approach, noting that his work creates wealth-building opportunities for local residents while supporting regional stability, in line with ECOWAS development goals.

By transforming underdeveloped land into thriving neighbourhoods, Joseph has challenged stereotypes about the North and provided a blueprint for private enterprise driving meaningful progress amid adversity. His recognition underscores the impact of vision, resilience, and strategic investment in shaping the future of Northeast Nigeria.
