Boss Director
By Adetutu Audu
Nigerian Afro-Fusion artist Boss Director is drawing attention with two recent releases, “Philomina” and “Shakina,” records that showcase his evolving blend of Afro-Fusion melodies and Amapiano-inspired rhythm.
Both singles reflect a deliberate shift in sound, as the artist leans into the groove-driven elements of Amapiano while maintaining the emotional storytelling that has become part of his creative identity.
Speaking on the direction behind the songs, Boss Director explained that the goal was to create music that connects instantly through rhythm and mood.
“I wanted records that people can feel naturally. Amapiano brings a certain bounce and energy, while Afro-Fusion gives room for expression and melody. Bringing both together felt right,” he said.
Philomina carries a mellow but rhythmic flow, built on smooth percussion, layered synths, and melodic delivery. The track emphasizes atmosphere and vibe, making it suitable for both personal listening and performance settings.
On the other hand, Shakina introduces a more energetic tone, driven by log drum patterns and the distinctive bounce associated with Amapiano, while still retaining Afro-Fusion’s melodic character.
With a background in visual direction, Boss Director approaches his music with an awareness of how sound translates into movement and imagery, a quality evident in the structure of both records.
The dual release highlights his willingness to explore new sonic directions while staying rooted in contemporary African sound culture.
Both Philomina and Shakina are currently available on major streaming platforms.
