The National President of the Motorcycle Riders and Owners Organisation (ROMO), Mr. Rasaq Sotayo, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Sotayo equally commended the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for what he described as massive infrastructural development across the state.
Sotayo, who spoke on Sunday while speaking with journalists at his 60th birthday celebration held in Sango-Ota area of Ogun State, highlighted the Gateway International Airport, describing it as a landmark project that has further positioned the State as an emerging industrial hub and boosted business expansion.
According to him, ROMO’s support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition is to appreciate Governor Abiodun for creating an enabling environment that led to the formal recognition of the organisation as a union, a development he said has generated employment for millions of Nigerians.
“Our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid is our own way of saying thank you to Governor Dapo Abiodun for giving us the opportunity to form ROMO,” Sotayo said.
“The formation of ROMO has empowered millions of Nigerians directly and indirectly. We have contributed meaningfully to the economy of Ogun State, built our own sector, and we operate without owing the state government,” he added.
Sotayo noted that the growth of ROMO would not have been possible without the policies and leadership style of the Abiodun-led administration, stressing that infrastructural development across the state has created opportunities for businesses to thrive.
“The governor is doing a lot. I am grateful not only to the present administration, but also to past governments. Governor Abiodun has met expectations, and we need to continue supporting him and the deputy governor because they are performing excellently,” he said.
He further stated that without the recognition granted to ROMO by the state government, the organisation would not have achieved its present impact.
“If the governor had not given us the opportunity to form ROMO, we wouldn’t be talking about its impact today. ROMO also played its part in the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we will continue to support political appointments and proper representation,” Sotayo stated.
In her remarks, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, described Sotayo as a hardworking, man of honour and integrity, commending his commitment to grassroots empowerment and economic development.
Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Hon. Tunji Akinosi, member representing Ota Federal Constituency; the Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, and other notable personalities.
