The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), Chicago, USA branch in collaboration with Festac Town, Lagos Region, has boosted security monitoring at the Nigeria Police Force, Area E, Headquarters Festac Town, Lagos, with a surveillance tower to improve security.
The initiative engineered by the organization was in line with improving security efficiency among personnel, to mitigate the security situation in the country.
The NAS Capon Worldwide, Dr. Joseph Oteri, while commissioning the project, emphasised that surveillance system is very important to the efficiency and effectiveness of security agencies’ operations.
Oteri commended the effort of the project sponsors, tasking other units of Seadogs to do more, and also, commending the police for their steadfastness on the job in spite of the surmounting security challenges in the country.
Oteri noted that the police force across the globe is well treated and adequately equipped. He said that those in Nigeria are doing herculean tasks, as he urged them to remain resilient and focused in their lines of duty and service to the country.
He also assured the police community that things would get better for the nation and that they would smile soon, adding that the desired changes are already taking place in the defence sector, and would soon reach the police.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Area E Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Mr. Osita Ogbaji, while acknowledging the effort, commended the Seadogs for the gesture, stating that their choice of project was arrived at, after a need assessment, adding that it showed unity in diversity. He urged the group to continue in this direction.
On his part, the Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Bakare Ibrahim, thanked NAS for the project, stating that it would enhance security coordination at the head office.
Earlier, the Head of Saratoga X Chapter, Mr. Emeka Achonu, said the project was part of their efforts “to promote human dignity, and entrench a just and egalitarian society for all” by partnering public institutions to make them stronger and more efficient in service.
Also speaking, Mr. Moses Iyoha of the Chicago NAS chapter said his unit’s participation in the project was necessitated by its concern about insecurity in the country and the need to improve things.
Iyoha disclosed that his chapter will continue to partner other units on projects that are gainful to the Nigerian society across the country.
