By Benjamin Njoku

The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) has unveiled ‘Nollywood City’, a 50-acre creative-industrial project aimed at boosting Nigeria’s film industry.

The multi-phase project will feature film production studios, sound stages, post-production hubs, and film villages, creating a hub for African storytelling and creative enterprise.

Unveiling  this laudable project to newsmen in Lagos, DGN president, Uche Agbo said Nollywood City is  a long-term solution to boost production quality and create opportunities.

He lamented the challenges facing the industry  despite attaining global heights.

Nollywood’s growth, according to Agbo, has been hindered by lack of proper infrastructure, forcing filmmakers to get creative with limited resources.

He said the projects aims to change that narrative, providing a dedicated space for production and creativity to thrive.

Agbo, however, urged stakeholders in the industry to take advantage of the project located in Ogun state to boost their productions .

Speaking further, Agbo described  the project as the future of Nollywood,  adding it aligns with national objectives around job creation, creative exports, youth engagement, and cultural diplomacy.”

“It also  reflects a deliberate shift from conversations to construction, from ideas to assets,” Agbo added.
