…Hails Development Strides in Kogi
By Chinedu Nsofor
A public affairs analyst and development advocate, Dr. Mahmoud Alfa, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on his second anniversary in office, commending what he described as purposeful leadership and steady progress across key sectors of the state.
In a goodwill message released to mark the anniversary, Dr. Alfa said Governor Ododo’s two years in office reflect a governance approach anchored on vision, long-term planning, and people-centred development. He noted that while the duration may appear short, the administration’s impact across infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, and security points to a deliberate effort to translate policy commitments into tangible outcomes.
Dr. Alfa observed that the Ododo administration’s alignment with Kogi State’s 32-year development plan has helped to ensure continuity and institutional stability, describing this as critical to sustainable growth. He highlighted the revival of the Confluence Rice Mill as a major economic milestone, noting that the facility has supported over 7,000 farmers while creating employment opportunities and strengthening the agricultural value chain.
According to him, the government’s infrastructure drive—covering road construction and rehabilitation, installation of solar streetlights, and revitalisation of waterworks—has improved connectivity and boosted public confidence in governance at the grassroots.
In the social sector, Dr. Alfa praised the expansion of the Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme, which he said now covers more than 220,000 residents. He also referenced investments running into billions of naira in primary healthcare facilities, as well as policies aimed at improving access to free healthcare services and disease prevention.
On education, the analyst noted the administration’s sustained free education policy, expansion of bursary schemes, payment of examination fees, and investments in tertiary institutions. He described these initiatives as evidence of a strategic focus on youth empowerment and human capital development.
Dr. Alfa also commended the state government’s approach to security, citing the recruitment of hunters, establishment of forward operation bases, and the integration of vigilante operatives into the civil service as steps taken to enhance safety and social stability.
Beyond domestic reforms, he acknowledged efforts by the Ododo administration to position Kogi State as an investment destination through partnerships and industrial development initiatives, describing the strategy as forward-looking and aimed at long-term economic transformation.
He expressed confidence that the governor’s leadership would continue to deliver greater impact in the years ahead, adding that the administration’s trajectory suggests a commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
Dr. Alfa concluded by congratulating Governor Ododo on the milestone and wishing him continued success as he steers the affairs of Kogi State.
