As Nigeria joins the global community to mark World Education Day, the Caleb Danladi Foundation has commended the Federal Government for deliberate reforms aimed at strengthening the nation’s education sector.
Founder of the Foundation, Mr. Caleb Danladi Bako, praised recent policy initiatives focused on education financing, skills development, and youth empowerment, highlighting the establishment of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and renewed investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
“We commend the Federal Government for demonstrating strong political will in addressing long-standing barriers to education. The introduction of NELFUND and renewed emphasis on TVET show an understanding that education must be accessible, practical, and responsive to the needs of today’s economy,” Danladi said.
He noted that these initiatives aim to provide inclusive and sustainable education opportunities, especially for youths from low-income backgrounds who have talent and ambition but face financial constraints. According to him, NELFUND ensures that financial challenges no longer permanently block access to higher education, while TVET promotes skills acquisition, self-reliance, and economic productivity.
While applauding progress so far, Danladi stressed the need for policy continuity, effective implementation, and sustained funding, particularly in basic education, to tackle Nigeria’s persistent out-of-school children challenge.
He also acknowledged state governments, education agencies, private sector actors, NGOs, faith-based institutions, and development partners for complementing federal efforts through scholarships, learning materials, digital tools, infrastructure support, and vocational training.
“Sustained collaboration among all stakeholders is critical to achieving a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready education system in Nigeria,” Danladi added.
The Foundation called for continued alignment of state and local initiatives with national education objectives to ensure equitable access and quality learning outcomes for all Nigerian children.
