Princess Oyefusi pledges people-centred governance, efficient mobility for Lagos

By Innocent Anaba

Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, a female governorship aspirant in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 elections, has outlined a vision anchored on good governance, efficient public institutions and humane development, pledging a leadership style that serves the people and upholds the rule of law.

Speaking during a media interaction in Lagos, Princess Oyefusi said her greatest desire for Lagosians is “a Lagos where hard work is rewarded, movement is easy, security is guaranteed, and government serves the people, not the other way around.”

She identified institutional reform as her top priority if elected governor, stressing that fixing the machinery of government is key to delivering seamless services to citizens.

According to her, this would go hand in hand with transforming transportation through an integrated rail, bus and waterway system, noting that mobility directly affects employment opportunities, cost of living and overall quality of life in the state.

On traditional leadership, the governorship hopeful rated her relationship with elders and traditional rulers as strong, citing her background as a Royal Princess of the Ikorodu Kingdom.

She said her upbringing instilled in her a deep respect for culture, tradition and stewardship, maintaining that governance must remain transparent and firmly guided by the law.

Oyefusi was emphatic on accountability, declaring that no individual would be shielded from justice under her administration.

“There will be no protection or excuses, justice will be served, stolen resources recovered, and the law allowed to take its full course,” she said, adding that rebuilding respect for law and order is critical to restoring societal trust and national hope.

Rejecting the notion that “the end justifies the means,” she warned that cutting corners in leadership ultimately harms society, a stance she rated low on her scale of agreement.

She also expressed a preference for electronic media for its speed and reach, while acknowledging the continued relevance of print media for documentation and accountability.

Urging Lagosians to pay attention to her candidacy, Princess Oyefusi said she was offering practical solutions, disciplined leadership and a government that listens, plans and delivers.

On urban development challenges, she pledged humane engagement with affected communities, promising dialogue, alternatives and clear timelines in cases where traders occupy land designated for public infrastructure.

Advocating what she described as “indigenisation with global standards,” Princess Oyefusi said Lagos must preserve its identity while competing effectively on the world stage, positioning her aspiration as one rooted in inclusive growth, justice and sustainable development.
