King Mohammed VI of Morocco has accepted an invitation from former U.S. President Donald Trump to become a founding member of the U.S.-led Board of Peace (BoP), Morocco’s Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.
The initiative aims to contribute to peace efforts in the Middle East and promote a new approach to resolving conflicts worldwide. The Board will comprise a select group of internationally recognized leaders committed to a secure and prosperous future for coming generations.
“Morocco welcomes the second phase of Trump’s comprehensive peace plan, as well as the official creation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, which will serve as a temporary transitional body,” the ministry said.
It added: “Welcoming the commitment and vision of President Donald Trump for promoting peace, His Majesty the King has accepted this invitation. Morocco will ratify the founding charter of this Board. This invitation reflects the recognition of the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, his stature as a key peace actor, and the trust he enjoys with both the President of the United States and the international community.”
The Peace Board will operate as an international organization with a mandate to promote stability, restore governance, and ensure lasting peace in regions affected by or threatened with conflict. Its work will be guided by practical cooperation, effective action, and result-oriented partnerships, with participation strictly by invitation from the U.S. President.
Under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East, including support for the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully with Israel.
Other entities and advisers will also support the implementation of Trump’s vision for Gaza, including the Office of the High Representative for Gaza, a Gaza executive board, and senior advisors joining the BoP.
Trump first mentioned the creation of this board in September 2025, as his peace deal was nearing completion. The deal commenced on October 13, 2025, with the United Nations subsequently adopting a resolution endorsing the U.S.-backed Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.
