Media4Health, a HealthTech communications firm in Nigeria, has trained over 150 students of Southwestern Polytechnic and Nursing Sciences on the application of Digital Health in Public Health. The training, held on January 15, 2026, took place at the institution’s campus in Sagamu, Ogun State, and was organised in partnership with the school.

The training session was facilitated by Mr. Olalekan Oyekanmi, CEO of Media4Health and a Public Health Communications, and Digital Health professional trained at Bournemouth University, United Kingdom. The session provided students with a practical introduction to how digital technologies can be leveraged to improve public health outcomes in Nigeria.

During the training, students participated in hands-on simulation and brainstorming sessions focused on applying digital solutions to real-life public health challenges within their communities. Key areas explored included public health education, pregnancy complications, hypertension management, diabetes management, and emergency health conditions. Through these sessions, students proposed innovative digital approaches to addressing some of Nigeria’s most pressing health concerns.

The event was attended by key members of the institution’s management, including the Provost, Dr. Adebanjo Adedayo Eniolorunfe, and the Head of the Department of Public Health, Dr. Inioluwa Soile-Calebs.

Speaking at the event, the Provost emphasized the importance of adopting digital solutions in tackling public health challenges. He encouraged students to move beyond using digital technologies solely for entertainment and to embrace their potential as powerful tools for learning, innovation, and healthcare delivery.

Mr. Oyekanmi delivered a well-rounded introduction to digital health, helping students understand both the “why” and the “how” of integrating technology into healthcare systems. With a strong focus on the Nigerian healthcare context, he demonstrated how digital tools can improve workflows, enhance service delivery, and drive the digital transformation of medical and public health systems.

The training reflects Media4Health’s commitment to building digital health capacity among future healthcare professionals and empowering young people to use technology as a catalyst for improving public health outcomes in Nigeria.
