Gujba Chair, residents hails Gov Buni’s strides in healthcare, water supply, other projects

The Executive Chairman of Gujba Local Government Area, Hon. Dala Mala and his people have hailed Governor Mai Mala Buni for the giant strides recorded in the area of Healthcare, water treatment plant and reticulation, modern market as well as provision of a mini stadium, among other people oriented projects executed in the last six years.

This is as the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Abubakar Yerima revealed that, currently, the upgraded and remodelled health institution to Specialists Hospital in Buni Yadi town by the present administration has reduced the number of referrals and other burdens in handling severe cases witnessed in the past.

The Duo made the disclosure Yesterday while interacting with a team of some Media Executives/Practioners who were in the state for a tour of projects executed by the Governor across the 17 local government areas to commemorate his six-year anniversary.

The Executive Chairman of Gujba, Alhaji Mala who received the team led by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego, his counterpart from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Ahmed Buba among other government functionaries in Buni towns, said, the people of the state, especially those at the grassroots, have witnessed massive transformation too numerous to mention.

He specifically thanked the governor for giving him the opportunity to judiciously utilize parts of the local government funds in reconstruction and rehabilitation of the dilapidated Buni Yadi Government Lodge, which is fully furnished with air-conditioners and now ready for commissioning.

He also appreciated Governor Buni for the construction of Water Treatment Plant and Reticulation in Buni -Gari town and it’s environs, which, he said, “have reduced the perennial shortage of water hitherto experienced by domestic and animal consumption”.

On the construction of a township mini -stadium awarded to Damuli Engineering Company limited in Buni Yadi, the Chairman noted that “such post- insurgency project by the Governor, which is at the verge of completion, would provide an opportunity for the teaming youths to engage in sporting activities and foster unity amongst the populace”.

The Chairman further hailed Governor Buni for the construction of township roads and drainages as well as provision of agricultural inputs which aided in bumper harvest witnessed during the last rainy season across the Council.

On the upgrade of the Buni health facility to Specialists Hospital, Hon. Mala said, “It has started yielding positive impact, as the rate of maternal mortality and morbidity have reduced to the barest minimum, even as many people now have access to affordable quality healthcare, compared to what was obtained in the past”.

Giving further details on the signifance of the Specialists Hospital in Buni Yadi, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Abubakar Yerima explained that, “Yobe State Government in its efforts to expand the hospital, several units such as the Accident and Emergency (A and E), Maternity/Labour rooms, Amenity, Theatre Complex, General Outpatients Department (GOPD), Doctors and Staff Quaters were touched and upgraded by our indigenous contractors who have done a good jobs in the upgrading process.

“You know that when you have a specialists hospital, it gives a specialized care to the clients, and that is what we are doing now by aiding in the treatment of insurgency victims and other natural illnesses.

“Due to the high number of Primary Healthcare Centres in Buni Yadi, His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni led -administration took the bull by the horn to improve the healthcare management system by receiving and treating all referrals in this Specialists Hospital, which has also significantly reduced the rate of maternal mortality and morbidity in this part of the state”. Dr. Yerima stated.

A community leader, Ali Usman in an interview with our Correspondent on behalf the communities, expressed appreciation to Governor Buni for his transformative initiatives which he said, were spread across all the 17 local government areas of the state, even as he pledged their unflinching support to present administration.
