The ancient city of Benin City was on Tuesday awash with emotions and cultural colour as Montreal-based socialite, Princess Ivie Osawẹ (also known as Precious Ivie Osawẹ), led family members, friends, and well-wishers to lay her aunt, Madam Esohe Grace Okuomose (née Akindaye), to rest.

Madam Okuomose, who passed on July 27, 2025, was buried on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at her residence located at No. 1 Ugiagbe Street, off Ogbomwan Road, 1st Ugbor, GRA, Benin City, amidst prayers, tears, and glowing tributes.

The burial ceremony attracted relatives from far and near, including dignitaries and members of the Edo community, who gathered to honour the life and legacy of the late matriarch, described as a woman of dignity, compassion, and deep cultural values.

Funeral activities continue on Friday, January 16, 2026, with a social dance scheduled to take place at the Military Base Hospital, along Airport Road, Benin City.

A thanksgiving service will also be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral Church, located at No. 27 Akpakpava Road, Benin City, where family members and well-wishers are expected to give thanks for a life well lived.

Princess Ivie Osawẹ expressed gratitude to all who stood by the family during the period of mourning, noting that her aunt lived a fulfilled life devoted to family, service, and the preservation of Edo values.
