The Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Engr. Bege Joseph Gaiya, has accepted a retraction and public apology issued over an earlier claim concerning Christmas-related funds.

The claim, which was published on January 5, 2025, alleged that funds approved by the Kaduna State Government for Christmas celebrations were improperly handled by the council chairman.

However, the allegation was later withdrawn after it could not be substantiated before relevant security agencies, prompting a formal retraction and apology.

In the retraction, the author withdrew the earlier statement and apologised for any misunderstanding it may have caused the chairman, urging members of the public to take note of the clarification.

Reacting in a press statement issued on Tuesday, Engr. Gaiya acknowledged the retraction and apology, describing the move as responsible and accepting it in good faith.

The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability and the development of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, urging members of the public to disregard the earlier claim, which he said lacked factual basis.

He also cautioned young people against irresponsible use of public platforms and advised them not to allow themselves to be influenced by individuals or groups seeking to create unnecessary tension, stressing the importance of responsible public discourse.

Engr. Gaiya thanked residents of the local government for their continued trust and support, assuring them of his dedication to integrity and service.
