In a move that could shape obesity management and public health outcomes in Anambra State, Getslim Bariatric Center has launched a new facility in Onitsha in partnership with Rose Specialist Hospital. The initiative is set to improve access to specialised weight management services in the South-East.

Located at Rose Specialist Hospital, 14 Njoku Crescent, Oyolu Fighter, off College Road, the hospital is recognised for its multidisciplinary medical services, 24-hour patient care, and advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

The partnership addresses a growing health concern in Nigeria: obesity and its associated complications, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders. Until now, many residents in the South-East had to travel to Lagos, Abuja, or overseas for specialist bariatric care.

Getslim Bariatric Center’s Onitsha facility will provide comprehensive patient evaluations, structured weight-loss programmes, and advanced bariatric surgical procedures, all medically supervised to ensure safe and effective outcomes.

According to the Managing Director of Getslim Bariatric Center, the collaboration aligns with broader public health objectives by integrating bariatric expertise into an established healthcare facility trusted by the community.

“Obesity is a significant public health challenge. By partnering with Rose Specialist Hospital, we are making specialist interventions accessible to residents in Onitsha and neighbouring areas, reducing barriers to care and improving long-term health outcomes,” he said.

The launch is part of a broader effort to strengthen specialised medical services in the region and support national health policies aimed at tackling non-communicable diseases.
