Newly appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ilo, has pledged to prioritise quality training, infrastructure upgrade, and operational efficiency at the Centre.

AVM Ilo, who assumed office as the 42nd Commandant on December 15, 2025, made the commitment during a two-day familiarisation tour of NAFRC facilities in the Oshodi area of Lagos, aimed at assessing infrastructure and interacting with personnel.

He stated that his leadership would focus on creating a conducive learning environment, improving workshop capacity, and delivering practical training to better prepare retiring personnel for civilian life after their six-month vocational programme.

A key initiative, the Commandant disclosed, would be a comparative study of similar resettlement centres abroad to expose the Centre to international best practices and innovative ideas for enhancing its training standards.

The tour began at the Directorate of Training, where the Director, Major General I.O. Olatunji, briefed the Commandant. Maj. Gen. Olatunji noted that the training curriculum, last reviewed in 2022, was due for an update to reflect current vocational demands.

During the inspection, AVM Ilo visited multiple workshops including those for automobile, welding, carpentry, ICT, textiles, and the agricultural wing. He emphasised the urgent need for modern training equipment and visual instructional aids to effectively expose participants to mechanised operations and industry practices.

AVM Ilo reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructural development and staff welfare, assuring that observations from the tour would be translated into actionable plans to reposition NAFRC as a leading vocational and resettlement institution.
