As the Yuletide festivities, otherwise known as Detty December, draw to a close, reports have emerged that travellers relied on ride-hailing platforms to connect seamlessly from the domestic and international terminals at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos to other parts of the city.

The survey also showed that residents of the state relied on ride-hailing platforms to move smoothly across the city.

A survey carried out by an online news medium showed that ride-hailing was widely seen as a safer and more convenient alternative to driving, especially after hours of celebration.

With heavy congestion around event venues, airports, hotels and popular hotspots, Lagosians shared that ride-hailing helped them avoid the stress of parking, navigating unfamiliar routes, or dealing with unexpected delays.

Many respondents noted that movement during the season extended well into the night and early morning hours.

From jumping between events to heading home after long nights out, people spent more time on the road than usual. Ride-hailing was widely seen as a safer and more convenient alternative to driving, especially after hours of celebration.

From airport pickups to after-parties and early-morning rides home, transportation shaped how Detty December was experienced.

As Lagosians and visitors moved through the city’s busiest season, ride-hailing platforms like Bolt were at the centre of it all, quietly supporting safe, convenient and flexible movement across Lagos.

Safety also emerged as another major reason ride-hailing remained top of mind. In a city that becomes significantly busier in December, many people valued the reassurance that comes with verified drivers, tracked trips and in-app support. That added layer of security influenced how comfortable people felt moving around, particularly at night.
