ABUJA —THE Oluremi @65 Education Fund, launched by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to mark her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025, has surpassed expectations, raising a staggering N25,520,708,074.35 towards the development of the National Library.
In a heartfelt statement released on Wednesday, the First Lady expressed profound gratitude to Nigerians, family, friends, and well-wishers for their overwhelming support.
She said: “Your generosity affirms our shared commitment to education, preservation of knowledge, and national development,” noting that the initiative has inspired remarkable goodwill and unity across the nation.
The First Lady announced that the dedicated donation account will be shut down effective Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
The President’d wife said moving forward, the project falls under the direct supervision of the Minister of Education, with any additional contributions directed through the Ministry.
She stated that the monumental sum – Twenty Five Billion, Five Hundred and Twenty Million, Seven Hundred and Eight Thousand, Seventy-Four Naira and Thirty-Five Kobo – underscored the public’s enthusiasm for bolstering Nigeria’s educational infrastructure at a time when access to knowledge remained pivotal for national progress.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu concluded her message with warm wishes: “I thank everyone who has contributed to this worthy cause. I wish you and your families a peaceful and prosperous 2026.”
The Oluremi @65 Education Fund highlights the First Lady’s ongoing philanthropy in education and community development, aligning with broader efforts to revitalize key national institutions like the National Library.
