2026: Be hopeful, confident; Nigeria’s future assured — ICRC DG urges Nigerians

By Joseph Erunke, Abuja

ABUJA — As Nigerians prepare to usher in the New Year, the Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, has urged citizens to approach 2026 with renewed hope, confidence, and a shared commitment to national development, assuring that Nigeria’s infrastructure future remains promising.

Dr. Ewalefoh described the New Year as a period for reflection and recommitment, stressing that infrastructure development remains a critical driver of economic growth, national productivity, and improved quality of life for Nigerians.

According to him, the beginning of a new year represents more than a change of date, but an opportunity to deepen service delivery and create lasting value for citizens.

“Infrastructure development is ultimately about improving access, expanding opportunities, and enhancing the dignity of Nigerians,” he said.

Reflecting on achievements recorded in 2025, the ICRC Director-General noted that recent approvals of major Public–Private Partnership (PPP) projects by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) have reinforced confidence in the Federal Government’s strategy to bridge Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit through well-structured, private-sector-driven initiatives.

He said the approvals demonstrate steady progress in laying a sustainable foundation for infrastructure development across critical sectors of the economy.

Dr. Ewalefoh further encouraged Nigerians to use the transition into the New Year to strengthen unity, renew faith, and carry forward lessons from the past with optimism, compassion, and a collective sense of purpose.

“As we enter a new year, our focus must remain on delivery. I pray that God grants our nation peace and wisdom, ushering in renewed hope, steady progress, and lasting prosperity for all Nigerians,” he said.
