As Africa’s creator economy continues its rapid expansion, industry stakeholders are increasingly drawing attention to a lingering imbalance within the ecosystem: while many creators boast strong engagement and loyal audiences, access to brand partnerships remains largely restricted to a small circle of highly visible influencers.
Stepping into this gap is Creator Gigs Africa, a digital marketplace founded by Nigerian content marketer, Osho Temitayo Michael, and co-developed by Osho Mayowa Matthew. The platform is specifically designed to support micro and mid-sized creators—segments widely regarded as influential yet underrepresented in structured brand collaborations across the continent.
Industry analysts observe that a significant number of African creators still operate outside formal monetisation frameworks, often depending on inconsistent brand outreach or platform-based creator funds. This has resulted in an informal system where creator discovery and pricing are largely unstructured and driven more by follower counts than by actual performance.
Creator Gigs Africa adopts a campaign-based marketplace model that allows brands and marketers to post marketing briefs openly, while creators apply directly for campaigns that align with their niche and content style. This structure reduces dependence on private negotiations and intermediaries, which often limit opportunities for smaller creators.
According to the founder, the platform is designed to create fairness and access within the creator economy. “We are building a system where creators are valued for performance and relevance, not just numbers, while giving brands a transparent way to discover talent that truly connects with audiences,” Osho Temitayo Michael said.
The platform’s emphasis on engagement rates and platform-specific performance metrics reflects a broader shift toward performance-driven creator marketing. This model mirrors content discovery trends on platforms such as TikTok, where visibility is increasingly determined by content quality and engagement rather than follower size alone.
By prioritising data-informed pricing and open discovery, Creator Gigs Africa is positioning itself within a growing movement aimed at professionalising creator marketing in emerging markets. For brands, this approach offers clearer benchmarks for evaluating creator partnerships, while creators gain alternative monetisation pathways beyond traditional platform payouts.
As competition for audience attention intensifies, analysts suggest that marketplaces promoting transparency, measurable outcomes, and equitable access are likely to play a defining role in shaping the next phase of Africa’s evolving creator economy.
