The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Adeola has expressed great sadness and sympathy for world heavy weight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, following a fatal road accident in which two members of his training team lost their lives at Makun in Ogun State.
Senator Adeola, in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Kayode Odunaro, regretted the unfortunate tragedy at this season of Yuletide, stressing that the accident has casted an ugly shadow on an otherwise joyous holiday season for all Nigerians and boxing fans worldwide.
“It was indeed a sad event involving a boxing legend from Ogun State that occurred in Makun. The loss of precious lives on holidays is heartbreaking “ the senator lamented.
While wishing Joshua and the driver recovery from injury and trauma of the accident, Senator Adeola prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the deceased and the fortitude for their families and friends to bear the irreparable loss.
Recall that Joshua was involved in road crash at about 11 a.m. on Monday, an incident that claimed the lives of two other occupants of the ill-fated vehicle.
It was also gathered that the vehicle conveying the renowned boxer, a Lexus Jeep with registration number KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck.
