The wife of the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District and 130th Lord Mayor of Leeds City, United Kingdom, Cllr. Abigail Marshall Katung, has been conferred with the prestigious traditional title of Myiriya Bajju (Comfort of the Bajju Kingdom).

The honour was bestowed on her by the Paramount Ruler of the Bajju Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Mr. Luka Kogi Yabwat (Agwam Bajju II), during a colourful ceremony held on Monday at the royal palace in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The monarch said the title was in recognition of Mrs. Katung’s outstanding humanitarian services, commitment to national development, and enduring love for the Bajju people. He noted that her strong cultural ties, support for unity, preservation of heritage, and contributions to community development distinguished her for the honour.

According to the Agwam Bajju II, the title Myiriya Bajju symbolises peace, comfort, respect and appreciation, reflecting the high esteem in which the Bajju people hold the recipient.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung expressed deep gratitude to the traditional council for the honour accorded his wife, describing it as a recognition of her selfless service to humanity.
