The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote cultural heritage, tourism development and unity across the senatorial district and beyond.

Adeola also reaffirmed his resolve to facilitate critical infrastructural projects capable of accelerating socio-economic development in Ogun West.

The senator, who stated this at the grand finale of the 2025 Isaga Day Festival, held at the weekend in Isaga town, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, where he served as chairman of the occasion, disclosed that he had attracted over 300 projects to complement the efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun in delivering good governance across Ogun West and other parts of the state.

According to him, the projects—covering roads, healthcare, education, security and empowerment—have been facilitated and completed within the last two years.

Adeola, who is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and a native of Isaga settlement, Ago Pahayi in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area, commended the people of Isaga for organising a colourful and violence-free festival.

He stressed that cultural development remains a priority for him, particularly when it serves as a catalyst for tourism growth and broader socio-economic advancement.

The senator also praised the Onisaga of Isaga-Orile Kingdom, Oba Joseph Oladele Olusoji Tella, for promoting cultural renaissance and peaceful coexistence, noting that his leadership has strengthened unity among indigenes across the 32 Isaga settlements in Nigeria and neighbouring Benin Republic.

“Your Royal Majesty has entrenched a legacy of unity by bringing together sons and daughters of Isaga-Orile from Ogun, Lagos and across the world to contribute meaningfully to the development of their ancestral home,” Adeola said.

He revealed that he had facilitated the construction of an ultra-modern palace, internal roads with streetlights, a town hall, classroom blocks and furniture in Isaga-Orile, adding that work would soon commence on a pavilion and a modern market in the town.

Reiterating his commitment to infrastructural and economic development in Ogun West, Adeola, said rehabilitation and upgrading works had begun on 10 major electricity infrastructures affecting about 100 communities that had suffered prolonged power outages.

He also commended Governor Abiodun for promoting tourism through festivals such as Ojude Oba, Oronna Ilaro, Lisabi, Iganmode and Akesan Day celebrations, as well as for his administration’s achievements in security, road construction, healthcare, education and the aviation sector with the Gateway Cargo Airport at Iperu.

According to him, the governor’s policies align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the federal level.

Earlier, Chairman of the 2025 Isaga Day Festival Committee, Gboyega Aramide, said the event, themed “A Legacy of Unity and Progress,” was designed to foster unity, strengthen bonds and reconnect Isaga indigenes at home and in the diaspora.

He traced the history of Isaga people to around 1750, noting that many were dispersed during the Dahomey War of 1862 and later settled in parts of Ogun, Lagos and present-day Benin Republic, where they retained the Isaga identity.

In his remarks, the Onisaga of Isaga-Orile Kingdom, Oba Olusoji Tella, represented by Babatunde Tella, described the festival as a platform for mobilising the people towards development, unity and investment.

The monarch commended Senator Adeola for his numerous developmental interventions, expressing optimism that the proposed ultra-modern market in Isaga-Orile would further enhance the town’s economic profile due to its strategic location along the Sokoto–Badagry Road.
