Obaseki’s cousin, Don Pedro stripped, beaten in Edo

Suspected thugs on Sunday stripped and beat up a media consultant and the Chief Executive Officer of Hosamudia Farm, Don Pedro Obaseki, in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Pedro Obaseki, who is a cousin to the immediate past governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki was attacked at Uwa Primary School where he went to play football.

He had been accused of making comments at the former governor’s meet and greet in Europe which was described in some quarters as not complimentary to the Benin Monarchy.

In a viral video, Pedro Obaseki was seen kneeling at the Oba Palace gate and those dragging him along told the palace guards that they brought in an Oghion Oba (enemy of the Oba), he was made to kneel down.

He was stripped of his shirt, his shorts and was left with his pants and knee protector without shoes or slippers when he was led into the palace.

Some Palace Chiefs who addressed the suspected thugs spoke in Bini language said the Oba was going to the Holy Arousa church for Thanksgiving service to mark end of the Igue festival.

According to him, “Today is Thanksgiving day at the Holy Arousa. We don’t want any trouble. If there is anybody that counted himself as enemy of the Oba, allow him and see how he will end up.”
