A former House of Representatives member, Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, has commended U.S. President Donald Trump for the strategic collaboration with Nigerian authorities in combating banditry and terrorism.
Agbonayinma, fondly called EJ and commissioner with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), wrote a letter to the U.S. President thanking Trump for his bold engagement and for listening to Nigerians’ concerns.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, who represented the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency in Edo State, said he was encouraged by the collaboration and the attention Trump’s administration has given to security concerns affecting Nigeria and the broader West African region.
The letter read: “I write to you as a Nigerian-American who places immense pride in our shared commitment to peace, security, and the well-being of our communities. I want to express heartfelt appreciation for your steadfast attention to the global fight against banditry and insecurity, including the serious killings and challenges faced in Nigeria.
“Your leadership and advocacy have resonated beyond borders, inspiring confidence among many Nigerians at home and abroad who yearn for effective, decisive action to protect lives and restore safety in our communities.
“As someone who actively supported your candidacy and voted with that confidence, I am encouraged by the attention your administration has given to security concerns that affect Nigeria and the broader West African region.
“While much work remains to be done in partnership with Nigerian authorities and international partners, your emphasis on strong institutions, professionalized security forces, and strategic collaboration provides a hopeful framework for progress.
“I remain hopeful that continued cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and capacity-building efforts will contribute to reducing violence and enabling communities to thrive in peace.
“Thank you for your bold engagement and for listening to the concerns of Nigerians who seek secure, dignified lives. I wish you continued success in your endeavors and the best of health. I am highly grateful and proud of you.”
