Pretty Okafor
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has announced the suspension of the Association’s National President, Pretty Okafor, with immediate effect.
The decision was taken at an emergency NEC meeting held on December 25, 2025, convened to deliberate on internal governance and constitutional matters affecting the Association.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by Abdulhakeem Abdulsalam, PMAN Governor for Kogi State, the NEC said the suspension would remain in place pending the conclusion of internal reviews and established disciplinary procedures.
According to the communiqué, the action followed concerns raised by NEC members regarding compliance with the Association’s constitution, internal processes, and the overall administration of PMAN. The Council noted that these concerns required further examination through appropriate internal mechanisms.
The NEC also resolved to reverse certain administrative decisions taken without full Council endorsement, restore affected officials to their elected positions, and initiate a review of the Association’s financial records and existing partnership agreements, in line with PMAN’s internal regulations.
As part of the resolutions, the NEC appointed Sydney Sparrow, PMAN Governor for the Federal Capital Territory, as Acting National President to oversee the Association’s affairs during the review period.
The Council assured PMAN members nationwide that the measures taken were intended to strengthen internal governance structures and ensure adherence to the Association’s constitution. It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the promotion of the collective interests of Nigerian musicians.
