Nigerian-born comedian and host Emmanuel Faremi Yanmife, professionally known as MC Yanmife, has been named Diaspora Comic Host of the Year at the Eko Heritage Awards 2025, held on July 27, 2025.
The recognition marks a significant milestone in MC Yanmife’s career, celebrating over a decade of consistent work in comedy, live hosting, and audience engagement, both within Nigeria and across international stages. The Eko Heritage Awards, known for spotlighting excellence among Nigerians making cultural and creative impacts globally, honoured MC Yanmife for his growing influence in the diaspora entertainment space.
With more than 13 years of professional experience, MC Yanmife began his journey in comedy and event hosting at a young age, steadily building a reputation for sharp wit, vibrant stage presence, and strong audience connection. His career development was closely tied to his academic years, during which he studied Architecture at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, before proceeding to Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) via direct entry in 2016.
While at OOU, MC Yanmife became a prominent entertainment figure, hosting and performing at student events, concerts, and social programmes across the campus and surrounding communities. His involvement extended beyond performance, as he actively volunteered with theatre and arts faculties, contributing to cultural productions and creative programmes. These experiences laid a strong foundation for his transition into broader professional and brand-focused engagements.
In 2023, MC Yanmife relocated to the United Kingdom to expand his career internationally. Since then, he has performed and hosted events across major UK cities including London, Manchester, and Basingstoke, while also organising comedy and cultural events that attract strong community support. His international footprint further includes engagements in Albania and Morocco, reflecting his growing global presence.
Beyond the stage, MC Yanmife has collaborated with arts and culture-focused organisations in the UK and serves as a brand ambassador for Afriex, a global fintech and money transfer company, supporting brand promotion through creative content, live appearances, and audience engagement.
The Diaspora Comic Host of the Year award positions MC Yanmife among a new generation of entertainers representing Nigerian comedy on the global stage. For him, the honour is both recognition and responsibility—reinforcing his commitment to using comedy, hosting, and cultural entertainment to create meaningful connections and memorable experiences for audiences worldwide.
