The Grassroots Mobilisation Initiative (GMI) has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2026 Budget proposal, praising its emphasis on national security and fiscal prudence as essential steps toward national prosperity.
In a statement released Monday, GMI National Coordinator Samaila Musa said the budget addresses the most urgent needs of Nigerians, emphasizing that without a solid plan for security, sustainable economic progress and social stability cannot be achieved.
“We note that the 2026 Appropriation Bill prioritizes critical areas for Nigeria’s resurgence. It emphasizes security, fiscal discipline, sustainable growth, and job creation—elements crucial for improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians,” the group said.
Musa described the submission of the bill to the National Assembly as a pivotal moment for the country, urging lawmakers to set aside partisan differences and work collaboratively to ensure the budget achieves its goals.
According to GMI, the Appropriation Bill is more than a financial plan; it reflects the aspirations of Nigerians. The group commended the government for prioritizing job creation and economic growth, which they identified as key drivers for national recovery.
“The budget acts as a roadmap for a better future. Decisions made by lawmakers in the coming weeks will shape Nigeria’s economic stability and security for years to come,” Musa added.
He also stressed the importance of youth empowerment, highlighting the need to provide skills, jobs, and opportunities for young Nigerians. While acknowledging global economic uncertainties, Musa urged the government to ensure the budget delivers tangible benefits for ordinary citizens.
“The collaborative spirit displayed during the Joint Sitting underscores the understanding that Nigeria’s challenges can only be addressed through unity and a shared vision,” he concluded.
