UGHELLI— IN a bid to boost agriculture in the country, Raymos Guanah Farms and the National Horticultural Research Institute, NIHORT, Ibandan, Oyo State, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, for partnership for out station farm research.

Signing the MoU in Ughelli, Delta State, after an inspection tour of 500 hecters of farm land acquired by Raymos Guanah Farms at Obagie Community in Edo State and the 56 hectares of pineapple, water melon and plantain farms in Ughelli, Assistant Director, Fruits and Biotechnology Programme of the institute, Dr Sunday Akinyemi, said the institute will henceforth, partner with Raymos Guanah Farms.

Saying that the Federal Government, through its many agricultural agencies, had developed many technologies to assist farmers in the country, he noted that the institute would provide technical advice to Raymos Guanah Farms.

He enjoined Nigerian farmers to make use of the services of the institute, adding, “such services will not cost them anything but increased productivity. Farmers in Nigeria should move away from the conventional belief of looking at the weather to determine period of cultivation and embrace modern technologies in farming.”
