Gregory University Uturu: A beacon of academic excellence

The South East geo-political zone, arguably, has churned out the highest number of tertiary education admission seekers in the country. But ironically, candidates from the zone have limited chances in getting admission to read their choice course of study in the few available tertiary institutions in the zone.

Search for solution to this lingering regional challenge gave birth to result -oriented and research -based  private university like Gregory University Uturu, GUU, in 2012. Ever since then, GUU has continued to live up to its mission statement and vision of providing opportunities for interested candidates to pursue their academic career in  high-demand programmes often not available in the few institutions in the region.

As Gregory University Uturu (GUU) marks another milestone, celebrating its 10th convocation and 4th induction of medical doctors, it is clear that the institution has solidified its position as a premier tertiary education hub in the South East. The recent ceremonies not only highlight the university’s commitment to academic excellence but also underscore its resilience and dedication to producing high-quality graduates.

The College of Medicine and Health Sciences’ 4th induction ceremony, which saw 46 medical doctors take the Hippocratic Oath, is further proof  of GUU’s focus on healthcare education. With this cohort, the college has now produced 174 medical doctors since its inception in 2017. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the rigorous standards required for medical accreditation and training.

The 10th Convocation ceremony, which witnessed the graduation of 410 students, including 11 first-class graduates, brings the total number of GUU alumni to over 1,750. This impressive growth is a result of the university’s consistent academic activities, unhindered by strikes or disruptions that often plague other institutions.

GUU’s success can be attributed to its strategic approach to academic programming and infrastructure development. The university has consistently secured and maintained accreditation for high-demand programmes, making it a magnet for students seeking quality education in fields like Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Law.

Without a doubt, Gregory University Uturu has emerged as the best and most reliable tertiary institution in the South East for these programmes. Its commitment to excellence, stability, and student success has earned it this reputation, making it a beacon of hope for students and parents seeking a world-class education.

As GUU continues to soar, it is poised to make even greater contributions to Nigeria’s educational landscape. Its model of academic excellence, stability, and innovation is one that other institutions can emulate. The management,  staff, and students of GUU, deserve commendation on this remarkable achievement. The future is bright, and GUU is leading the way!
