Strong nutritional foundation is best for infants – EXPERTS

THREE professors, all experts in infant nutrition recently expressed concern about the poor nutritional status of  Nigerian infants below two years of age.

They spoke during the scientific symposium and official launch of the advanced formula range and Promise PE GOLD brand from the stable of Pfizer Nutrition, held in  Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt as a means to ensure  priorityfor growing children to have the right  amount and balance of nutrients to  promote proper growth and development.

Prof.essor Emily Flores worried that  children who are picky eaters should be recognized and addressed immediately, because inadequate nutrients consumed in the early stages of childhood  will have a long lasting effect.

Professor Emmanuel Ekanem, highlighted the impact of nutrition deficiencies on long term growth and development of growing children in Nigeria, while Professor Philip Abiodun, spoke on the essence of early nutritional programming, the importance of early nutrition.

The three experts later spoke to Good Health Weekly on the major recommendations of there presentations.
