The African Fashion and Arts Award (AFAA) 2025 has ended on a high note in Abuja, reinforcing its position as a leading platform for celebrating creativity, craftsmanship and cultural expression within Africa’s fashion industry.
The event, held on December 5, 2025, brought together designers, fashion entrepreneurs, industry stakeholders, government representatives, media professionals and fashion enthusiasts for an evening of vibrant runway presentations that blended modern design with rich African heritage.
This year’s edition featured an impressive lineup of designer brands, including AMIDA, ZEEKINII, PWAPARATI, SAGE FASHION, BELLZ, OFE, EGAHI COUTURE, RAY AND ROY FASHION HOME, ESWID COLLECTIONS, TSAMZZ APPAREL, creatives from The Abuja Gathering Place of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ETAGA 1 from the Transcorp Hilton Abuja’s BWEP initiative, as well as STYLED By ZK. Each showcased a distinct creative identity, contributing to a diverse and engaging runway experience.
From bold silhouettes and intricate detailing to contemporary reinterpretations of traditional aesthetics, the collections highlighted the depth, versatility and storytelling power of African fashion. Attendees commended the designers for their originality, quality craftsmanship and strong cultural narratives.
Speaking on the vision behind the event, AFAA Founder, Kingsley Amako, said the platform was created to amplify African creativity and open doors for designers beyond local markets. “AFAA is about more than fashion shows; it is about creating opportunities, building confidence and giving African designers the visibility they need to compete globally while staying true to their cultural roots,” he said.
Abosede added that showcasing emerging designers alongside established brands remains a core part of AFAA’s mission. “When talents at different stages share the same runway, it encourages mentorship, collaboration and industry growth. That balance is what drives sustainable creative development,” he noted.
The AFAA 2025 runway served not only as a showcase but also as a catalyst for collaboration and industry advancement, strengthening connections between designers, institutions and potential partners. Stakeholders described the event as a key meeting point for innovation and market expansion within the African fashion space.
With the successful conclusion of the 2025 edition, AFAA has once again reaffirmed its commitment to empowering designers, fostering creative opportunities and connecting African fashion talent to wider audiences, further cementing its place on Nigeria’s and Africa’s creative calendar.
