The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has formally constituted a Monitoring Team to enforce strict oversight on all public resources granted to security agencies in the state. The initiative aims to ensure accountability, transparency, and responsible management of the funds and assets provided to security agencies operating in Lagos.

The establishment of the LSSTF Monitoring Team follows a commitment by the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, during a Strategic Media Parley with senior editors and media executives on December 5, 2025. At the event, Ogunsan pledged to end the era of misuse and abuse of public resources, emphasizing that transparency would be the standard under his leadership.

“The public’s confidence in the Fund is essential. We will maintain strict oversight on contractor performance, monitor all funded projects closely, publish updates on the utilization of donations, strengthen internal governance, and deepen stakeholder communication and feedback mechanisms,” Ogunsan said.

The newly constituted Monitoring Team has been given clear responsibilities, including monitoring and tracking vehicles and other security assets belonging to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), conducting routine field inspections to assess the condition of LSSTF-funded assets, maintaining accurate records, evaluating the application of assets before any further allocation, and overseeing repairs and refurbishments funded by LSSTF. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to ensure accountability.

Ogunsan stated that the team would play a pivotal role in guaranteeing that the resources provided to security agencies are used effectively and in line with public expectations. Plans are underway for the official inauguration of the Monitoring Team, which will include the public presentation of a monitoring vehicle to facilitate its operations.

The initiative marks a significant step by LSSTF toward strengthening governance, enhancing public trust, and ensuring that donations intended for security enhancement in Lagos are managed with the highest level of integrity.
