Civil society calls for transparency in tuition-related claim involving NMDPRA CEO

ABUJA — Civil society organisations under the Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative (EUYI) have called for transparency and due process following public reports regarding tuition payments for the children of the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed.

At a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, EUYI National Coordinator, Comrade Danes Momoh Prince, alongside other coalition leaders, emphasised the need for clarity and proper review of the matter by relevant authorities.

“We are not here to accuse or condemn anyone. Our focus is on ensuring that public matters involving substantial financial transactions are addressed transparently and in accordance with the law,” Comrade Momoh Prince said.

The group called on appropriate government agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to review the reports in an objective and evidence-based manner.

EUYI stressed the importance of public confidence in governance, noting that addressing questions through formal procedures helps maintain trust in institutions. The coalition urged all parties to allow due process to take its course while encouraging calm and responsible public discourse.
