Boomplay has released a new editorial spotlight for the year 2025 titled “So Young, So Hot,” showcasing Chella, Ayo Maff and Modola as part of a cohort of young, influential artists shaping contemporary African music. The feature, published this week, underscores the streaming platform’s continued focus on documenting key contributors to the region’s fast-evolving soundscape.
Curated by Boomplay’s editorial team, the list presents the three artists as representative voices whose creative output has resonated across multiple audiences. While the platform does not assign rankings, the selection signals Boomplay’s effort to highlight artists who have already achieved notable visibility within Nigeria’s mainstream and alternative scenes.
Chella appears as one of the spotlighted figures, following a period of consistent engagement across digital platforms. Ayo Maff, also included, has maintained a strong presence in Nigeria’s street-pop and hybrid pop spaces, where his releases have circulated widely. Modola, the only woman featured, has established herself with a growing catalog and a distinct performance style that has earned attention in the broader Afrobeats ecosystem.
The “So Young, So Hot” feature aligns with Boomplay’s ongoing editorial strategy of capturing cultural shifts and documenting artists who hold a defined place in Africa’s current musical landscape. According to the company, the selections were made through internal evaluation without reliance on a ranking system.
