Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has warned the opposition in the state not to turn the coming October 20th gubernatorial election in the state to a war.
Governor Mimiko gave the warning in Akure yesterday while presenting 200 palliative taxi cabs recently purchased by the state government to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The vehicles are part of the 290 vehicles which included 50 Hiace buses, twenty 59-seater and twenty 26-seater buses acquired to ease transportation in the state.
Presenting the taxis to the operators, Mimiko warned the opposition to desist from turning the October 20, 2012 governorship election into a war.He said, “Let me warn those preparing for this October 20 gubernatorial election as if they are going to war to desist from such a plan. We don’t want bloodshed.”
The people of Ondo State have resolved that we must have peaceful election of one man, one vote.
“Being a period of electioneering, we all owe it a duty to jealously protect the soul of our dear state. I therefore enjoin all politicians to play the game according to the rules with due regard to the need for decency and the larger interests of our people.
