An international peace advocate and global human rights ambassador, Dr. Raymond Edoh, has urged the Inspector-General of Police to prioritise the welfare and professional wellbeing of officers, saying improved motivation is essential to effective policing in Nigeria’s current security environment.
Speaking during a media interaction, Edoh said modern policing requires not only advanced tools and training but sustained attention to officers’ working conditions, mental health, and career development.
He also called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, stressing that a coordinated operational framework is critical to tackling Nigeria’s security challenges.
“A fragmented security structure cannot defeat a coordinated threat. The police must deepen cooperation with sister agencies to create a united front against crime,” he said.
Edoh said enhanced welfare and inter-agency synergy would improve morale, professionalism, and overall security outcomes.
He commended the newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), describing him as an experienced military officer capable of advancing reforms within the country’s defence sector.
According to him, Nigerians expect strategic leadership, transparency, and measurable progress from the minister.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, saying it reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening national security.
Edoh reaffirmed his commitment to supporting peace initiatives and urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies in the interest of national safety.
