Olori Janet Afolabi, a CNN award-winning journalist and Queen of Apomu Kingdom, has been presented with the International Philanthropy Award by the World Women Organisation (WWO) in recognition of her humanitarian work.

According to the organisers, the award celebrates her contributions to innovative food distribution programmes targeted at rural and vulnerable communities in Western Nigeria.

“In recognition of your philanthropy and contributions in innovative food distribution in rural areas and vulnerable communities in Western Nigeria, the award committee has unanimously selected you as a recipient of the International Philanthropy Award. This award is to honour and celebrate your humanity and spirit of generosity,” the organisation stated.

The honour was conferred during the inauguration ceremony of the World Women Organisation Nigerian Chapter, where Olori Afolabi featured as a Special Guest.

The event, held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together women leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders to advance conversations on women’s empowerment and economic inclusion.

The World Women Organisation, which operates in 61 countries and has its global headquarters in Maryland, United States, describes itself as a movement dedicated to amplifying women’s voices and addressing challenges that hinder progress while promoting leadership roles for women across societies.

Olori Afolabi, known for her advocacy and community-focused initiatives in Osun State and beyond, was celebrated for her sustained impact and commitment to improving the lives of underserved populations.
