Widow of late Badagry All Progressives Congress (APC) apex leader, Dr. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, Arinola Ajose, has commended the Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Babatunde Hunpe, for immortalising her husband through the renaming of a major street in the area.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Prince Sunday Oke, private secretary and media aide to the late politician, Mrs. Ajose described the gesture as a fitting honour to the enduring legacy and contributions of her late husband to the political and socio-economic development of Badagry.
According to the statement, the Chairman approved the renaming of the former Mission Avenue to “Sunny Ajose Avenue” in recognition of the late political leader’s role in grassroots mobilisation and community development in Badagry.
“Late Ajose was a remarkable man who played a significant role in transforming Badagry Federation into what it is today. His determination to be close to power was evident throughout his career,” the statement read.
The family also recalled that the Lagos State Government, under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had earlier honoured the late chieftain by naming a housing scheme after him—Sunny Ajose Estate—in Badagry, describing the cumulative recognitions as affirmation of his impact and service to the people.
Mrs. Ajose expressed deep appreciation to the Badagry Local Government Council, the Lagos State Government and all stakeholders involved in the immortalisation process, noting that the honours have brought pride and comfort to the family.
She said the late Dr. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, OON, JP, would continue to be remembered for his commitment to political development and community advancement in Badagry.
Prince Oke said the family remains grateful for the recognition and pledged to uphold the values and ideals associated with the late APC leader.
