AWKA – Expelled members of Anambra State branch of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, have said in Awka that their purported expulsion from the party was illegal as those who claimed to have sacked them have no authority to act on behalf of the party.

The state executive of the party recently announced the expulsion of Governor Peter Obi’s Special Adviser on Parks and Markets, Chief Sylvester Alor and two others, namely Dr. Godson Emebo and Mr. Ray Okoli, over alleged anti-party activities.

However, at a meeting, yesterday, in Awka, Nwobu Alor’s group said their removal from the party was unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect, adding that the APGA executive that expelled them had since ceased to exist.

Nwobu-Alor, also at the meeting brokered by elders and stakeholders in the state under the leadership of Dr. Tim Menakaya, insisted that he would never be a party to any reconciliation move by anybody.

Emebo, who addressed reporters after the meeting, also argued that those who announced their expulsion failed to follow constitutional means as those accused of anti-party activities were not given opportunity to defend themselves.

A statement by Emebo and Okoli, as Chairman and Secretary of Anambra chapter of APGA National Stakeholders Forum, read: “The so-called state APGA executive that announced the expulsion does not exist as no congress has been held for its election as prescribed in the constitution of APGA. For the past seven years, no state congress of the party has been held. The existing members of the state exco were hand picked at Ogidi in 207 and since then, we have been pressing for a congress to elect our state officers to no avail.”
