Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to stabilise Nigeria’s administrative, security, and economic sectors, highlighting improvements such as the recent reduction in food prices.

In a statement, Alawuje said Nigerians widely recognise President Tinubu’s hands-on approach to addressing national challenges, often stepping in where delegated officials have fallen short. He described the economic gains and renewed focus on food security as tangible signs of the long-awaited change the public has been seeking.

According to Alawuje, the transformation is being felt across society—including institutions, religious circles, and among youth—and noted that even previously “untouchable” individuals are adjusting to the new order.

Describing himself and other supporters as “unrepentant foot soldiers” of the administration, he urged citizens with constructive ideas to contribute through available channels without waiting for formal invitations. “We must all jointly compel the system to work,” he said.

Alawuje also called for the full utilisation of retired security personnel, pointing out that the government had invested heavily in their training and welfare, and that their expertise remains critical amid ongoing security challenges. “They served with honour and returned with expertise that cannot be erased. Nigeria should not be facing this level of insecurity when such experienced hands are available,” he said.

He further emphasised the need for accountability within the security architecture, urging officials who fail to meet expectations to step aside voluntarily. He suggested that such actions would earn public respect and make way for more competent leadership. Specifically, he stated that the Minister of State for Defence should have resigned to allow more capable professionals to assume responsibility.

Acknowledging earlier concerns about the appointments of the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, Alawuje noted the availability of a large pool of retired, disciplined military professionals ready to serve.

Despite his criticisms, Alawuje reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu, praising his courage, resilience, and dedication to national progress, and prayed for continued divine guidance as he leads the country through its current challenges.
