Itsekiri women under the aegis of  Voice of Warri kingdom Women Initiative, has called  for  a more robust relationship between Ugborodo community  and Chevron Nigeria limited under an arrangement tagged Open camp policy.

President of the group, Mrs Vivian  Mene said the relationship will benefit the community and the  oil giant ,  explaining  that the open camp policy relationship is a situation where the oil company will open its doors for natives of  Ugborodo  to  handle some categories of supply jobs.

“Open Camp Policy means more reliance on community-supplied goods and services in the areas of food, water, laundry, transportation, light, catering, maintenance, etc to  promote economic growth. This is a way to  create  job for the ever rising unemployed in the community.

“Don’t just lock the camp against the people. Let us be part of the resources of our land. Other oil companies are doing open camp policy Like Bonny and Ogulagha.  There’s no crisis in Warri Kingdom again. No matter what Warri Kingdom”, she said .

The women said the open camp policy relationship will encourage productive engagement of youths of Ugborodo community, adding that it will redirect their attention away from crisis and substance abuse and related social vices.

“When our youth are positively engaged in our community, there will be no  crisis and drug abuse will be drastically reduced in our society.”, she said.

Continuing, the group also called for more projects like hospitals ,  estates and even a police station to be built  in the area.
